Clifton Leung is a Consulting CFO who helps growth-stage and mid-market companies build the financial clarity and operational discipline needed to scale with confidence.
He works at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy, designing planning frameworks, KPI systems, and reporting infrastructure that connect the numbers to how the business actually runs.
He advises companies navigating inflection points from rapid growth and margin pressure to capital raises, system upgrades, and leadership transitions. His focus is always the same: help leadership teams connect planning to execution so they can make faster, better decisions.
His career began at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, where he spent nearly a decade advising executives on financial operations, pricing strategy, margin improvement, M&A diligence, and long-range planning. At Deloitte, he led a large client portfolio across the Pacific Southwest, delivered significant margin expansion in a single fiscal year, and built pricing and forecasting tools that meaningfully improved executive decision-making. For clients in professional services, Clifton speaks the language from the inside. He built the pricing engines, ran the P&L, and knows exactly where margin gets made or lost.
From there, he moved into the utility and energy infrastructure sector, where he ran FP&A for a large capital and O&M portfolio. Managing hundreds of concurrent infrastructure projects with regulatory cost recovery, NPV and ROI modeling, and portfolio-scale decision support gave him a financial rigor that is hard to get anywhere else. For clients in clean energy, utilities, and capital-intensive industries, that discipline translates directly.
He later served as Head of Finance and Operations at a data consulting firm, where he built the financial infrastructure from the ground up, secured significant public sector contracts, improved working capital, and kept the firm investor ready throughout.
He also served as a domain expert embedded within an AI technology company, working directly with the model development team to translate real-world CFO judgment into financial reasoning frameworks for an enterprise language model. That experience gave him a grounded view of where AI is genuinely capable in finance and where senior human judgment remains irreplaceable. For clients in AI and technology, that perspective is rare.
His fractional CFO work spans growth-stage companies across technology, media, and creative industries, where speed is high, infrastructure is thin, and financial decisions have to be both rigorous and practical. For a creative agency and AI content platform, he built go-to-market models for new AI-based service lines and streamlined vendor operations to reduce cost and complexity. For a high-growth media firm, he designed pricing and profitability frameworks to protect margins during rapid scaling, and implemented rolling cash forecasts to give the leadership team real-time working capital visibility. These are the engagements where Clifton thrives: fast-moving companies that need a finance leader who can build the systems, tell the story, and keep the business on solid footing.
A Boston native and lifelong New England sports fan, Clifton grew up in a Marine Corps household where discipline was non-negotiable. His passion for real estate runs deep, and he now calls Los Angeles home.
Clifton's industry focus includes startups, professional services, clean energy and utilities, and social media. He helps clients align planning with execution, build KPI frameworks, modernize reporting, and develop the narratives that investors and boards trust.
Clifton holds an MBA from the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business and a BBA in Finance from Northeastern University. He works with clients across the Pacific Southwest and nationally.
