Francis Ota is a seasoned financial executive with more than 40 years of experience in finance, accounting, and business operations. Born in Tokyo, Japan, and raised in multicultural communities in the United States, Francis brings a unique international perspective to his work. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
Currently based in Los Angeles, California, Francis has held senior financial roles at prominent companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Medtronic, and Quest Diagnostics. His expertise spans various industries, including technology, healthcare, and telecommunications. He has a proven history of designing and implementing financial strategies that drive profitability and operational efficiency.
Francis’s career includes key positions such as Chief Financial Officer at CENIC, Micronoc, Homeboy Industries, and Lineagen, where he led financial, accounting, and internal control functions. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial reporting. His leadership in implementing cost accounting functions and activity-based cost drivers has significantly improved margins and profits.
With a strong international background, Francis has held international financial positions, including seven years as an expat finance manager and director of finance in Japan for Hewlett-Packard and Medtronic. He also had extended work experience in Belgium and the Netherlands, working for Belgian and Dutch companies. His global experience has equipped him with a deep understanding of international financial management and cross-cultural collaboration.
Francis has demonstrated exceptional collaborative leadership skills throughout his career, successfully leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
