Babak is a seasoned People Executive with three decades of progressive experience in Silicon Valley’s technology industry, specializing in high-growth and enabling companies to scale and achieve excellence. He has been a trusted business partner to CXOs across companies at various stages and through different economic challenges, consistently aligning company goals with people and talent strategies.

Throughout his career, Babak has both operated as a team of one and managed teams of over 50 HR professionals. His hands-on experience in building HR functions has successfully supported business objectives and facilitated successful exits through various company phases. Babak is a recognized company builder.

At his most recent company, Contrast Security, a cybersecurity startup, Babak was the first HR leader hired. He built the HR function from scratch, transitioned out of the PEO, and developed in-house capabilities to scale. In partnership with the CEO, Babak enhanced the executive team and scaled the company from 100 to over 500 employees, boosting Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) from $10M to $100M.

Babak's previous role at InMobi, a unicorn technology startup, saw him leading the People organization across a multi-national team spanning five continents and 17 time zones. Under his leadership, the company grew from 500 to over 2000 employees and increased revenue from $100M to $400M. He was instrumental in expanding into new markets and building new products through strategic acquisitions.

Babak’s extensive career includes leading HR functions at several other technology companies. At Taleo, a Canadian technology company, he successfully led the company through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on NASDAQ, culminating in its acquisition by Oracle for $2B. At MySQL, a Swedish open-source database company, he guided the organization from 75 to 700 employees, leading to its acquisition by Sun Microsystems/Oracle for $1B. Babak also played a pivotal role at Phoenix Technologies in Silicon Valley, facilitating the company’s sale to Private Equity for $500M.

Babak holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis (Go Aggies!) and is part of the SHRM network. He is a certified coach for Gallup’s Clifton Strengths and holds certifications in Organization Development, Talent Management, Succession Planning, Organizational Culture, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for HR from AIHR.

Residing in Palo Alto, California, Babak enjoys life with his wife and two daughters, one of whom is attending UCLA while the other is in elementary school. He actively volunteers in his community, training and coaching high school students in his alma mater on Clifton Strengths for Students.
